With the default camera app, the 2X zoom is achieved through software upscaling and cropping. This leads to images that are not as sharp or detailed. With !Camera, we only use the device’s physical lenses for maximum quality and sharpness. To achieve a similar 2x crop, use Photos or another editor to crop the photo.
There will always be some differences between the viewfinder and the final photo in every camera app. While !Camera uses our custom photo processing pipeline (SuperRaw) to capture photos, we are restricted to using iOS’s standard video feed for what’s presented in the viewfinder. The result of this difference is that in some conditions, the final photo can appear different from what you see in the viewfinder.
Using ProRaw or Basic processing will give more consistent results. However, these settings bring with them Apple's post-processing as well (denoising, flatter exposures, slower).
When using SuperRaw, it helps to think of the viewfinder as a traditional viewfinder on a film camera—a tool to help you compose your shot rather than a pixel-accurate view of what is captured.
HDR works best when viewed on supported displays and apps. Photos captured with HDR can appear darker on displays and in apps that don’t yet support HDR.
Set your desired HDR setting to offset this effect. Low will preserve highlights and minimize the darkening effect. Or disable HDR to get rid of it altogether.
